Looking for a flavorful dish to feed a crowd, serve as an appetizer, or simply enjoy with your family? You have found it. These roast beef sliders are sure to impress your taste buds. Prepare them up to two days ahead of serving and store in the fridge until the time is right to cook them. These sliders can be made with sliced roast beef from the deli, or elevate the flavor by preparing a roast prior to this dish. Either way you can’t go wrong, now let’s get to the good stuff!

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 pound sliced deli roast beef, or shredded roast beef (recipe here)
  • 12 King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 6 slices provolone or pepper jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

If you are making a roast to use shredded roast beef, my Three Ingredient Roast Beef recipe is a great option. You can make this the day before, or start it at least 8 hours before you would like to prepare the sliders.

To get started with the sliders, you will start by preparing the rolls. Cut them in half, I prefer to pull them apart individually, but I know many who slice the whole package at one time. Once you have sliced the rolls, arrange them in a 9×13 baking dish and spread mayonnaise on the bottom half. Set the tops of the rolls to the side for now.

Next you will want to slice and sauté an onion. If you don’t want to do this on your stovetop you can actually sauté an onion in your microwave! Place the onion in a bowl with 1 tablespoon of butter and heat it for 1 minute.

While the onion is doing its thing, you can begin placing the roast beef on the rolls. If using sliced deli roast beef, use 1-2 slices per roll. You can cut and/or fold them if it is easier for you. After the roast beef is on the rolls, layer the cheese followed by the onion. Finally, you will put the top half of the roll on.

Now you will melt the butter, once the butter is melted, whisk in the onion soup mix and Worcestershire sauce. Using a large spoon, pour this over the rolls. Cover the rolls with foil and place in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes or up to two days. If you are planning to cook them after ten minutes have gone by, set your oven to 375 degrees at this time.

After a minimum of ten minutes has passed, bake the sliders covered at 375 for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted. After the cheese is melted, remove the foil and cook for two more minutes, or until the tops are golden brown. Watch them closely, because they can burn quickly! Not speaking from personal experience or anything… 🙂

Now the sliders are ready to enjoy! Serve them up with fresh veggies and a side salad, or perhaps some homemade macaroni and cheese. However you choose to enjoy them, they will be sure to hit the spot.

Save time/dishes:

➡️ Sauté the onion in the microwave by placing it in a bowl with 1 tbsp butter and heating for 1 minute.

➡️ Use disposable foil baking pans for easy transport and quick clean up!
